Welcome

ree

Welcome to the very first blog post for Women of the Murray.

If you’ve landed here, chances are you’re craving something real. So are we.

Women of the Murray was created out of a deep need—one I felt personally, and one I saw

echoed across rural towns, paddocks, riverbanks, and kitchen tables. I’m Stacey—a mum, creative, and community builder who knows what it feels like to burn out, break down, and begin again.

This movement started as Women of Moira, a beautiful, raw, volunteer-run community that gave me purpose during a hard season. It brought women together, created space for vulnerability, and reminded us that we’re never as alone as we feel. But the truth is, trying to build a movement while juggling motherhood, running a business, and navigating the rising cost of life… is tough. Volunteering came from the heart, but it wasn’t sustainable.

That’s why Women of the Murray was born.

This is the next chapter—wider in reach, stronger in structure, and rooted in the same values: community, courage, and connection. Now, as a social enterprise, we’re building something that lasts. Something that empowers women and girls not just to survive, but to thrive.

You don’t have to be perfect to be part of this. You just have to be brave enough to show up. That’s our motto: brave, not perfect.

We’ll be using this blog to share stories from women across our region, spotlight our programs and impact, and talk honestly about the joys and challenges of life in rural and regional communities. You’ll hear about leadership, wellbeing, motherhood, identity, and everything in between.

So whether you’re here to read, contribute, or just find a quiet corner of the internet that feels like home—welcome. This is your space too.

Let’s build something beautiful, together.

With love,

Stacey
