Each month, we spotlight incredible women across the Murray region and beyond who are leading with heart, purpose, and authenticity. These women inspire us with how they show up — for themselves, their work, and their communities.
Meet Charlene
Charlene Donovan is a proud wife and mother of two girls, living in the heart of Katunga. She is passionate about regional communities and has spent the last 15+ years working in community engagement, development, and stakeholder management. Charlene’s career has always been driven by purpose, with a focus on empowering regional areas to be informed, resilient, and connected.
Whether through her career or her involvement in local initiatives, Charlene is dedicated to helping regional communities thrive. Her work has always been about building strong, meaningful relationships that lead to lasting change. Ensuring people and communities have the tools and support they need to succeed in today’s ever evolving world.
Charlene has had the opportunity to grow and develop as a leader through programs like the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation and Fairley Leadership. Opportunities she has been extremely grateful for and where she has learned to lead with empathy, collaboration, and a deep commitment to empowering others.

She is also deeply involved in her local community. Charlene is a member of the Katunga Primary School Parents and Friends Association, was recently an appointed member of Moira Shire Council's Community Panel, and is a member of the Women on the Murray advisory committee. A key advisor in the WOTM committee and dear friend. Thank you for all the work you do for our community Charlene!

🤍 What Community Means to Her
“Community is the driving force behind everything I do.”
Community is all about connection. It’s not just about where you live, but about the people around you. Those who support, understand, and lift each other up, especially in tough times. You can have many different communities in your life, and it’s about finding that sense of belonging and purpose wherever you are.
Community is the driving force behind everything I do. It’s about more than just offering services or resources it’s about empowering people to take charge of their futures, collaborate, and create opportunities for everyone to thrive together.
